The population on our planet Earth will soon be touching 7 billion. As we speak, the exact figure is 6.93 billion. Do we have enough resources to sustain such growth? While some may argue that there are a lot of resources that have been un-tapped, the reality is that so many regions in the world are still underdeveloped, and it is in these regions mostly that the population tends to be more, putting an even greater strain on the scanty recourses there.

China leads the world’s most populous countries, closely followed by India. But in the past decades China has managed to curtail their population growth by implementing related laws, and it is believed that at the current trend, India will become the most populous country by the end of the 21st century. The continent Antarctica does not belong to any country, though because of the energy reserves, now quite a few countries maintain a military presence there. So it does not have any permanent residents, but the average human presence there is around a 1,000 in the winters and approximately 5,000 in the summers. Would you believe that there are 200+ countries around the globe, and these 10 countries contribute to around ¾ of the world’s population? And at the other extreme we have Vatican City with a population of just 500 residents. Even more astonishing is the country with the smallest population in the world, Pitcairn Islands, which has a population of just 50 people. Unbelievable, right!!!
