Sebastian Vettel is Formula One World Champion 2011

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel finished the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka in third place, enough to get him the world champions title for the 2011 season. The Japanese Grand Prix however was won by McLaren’s Jenson Button, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso drove a strong race to finish a close second.

Vettel just needed one point more in the remaining five races to become the Formula One World Champion 2011. But he was not going to settle for something as low as that, and drove hard to win. The only was he could be deprived of the championship, was if he did not finish is the points in all five races, and also if button won each and every race till the season end. Well that was a long shot, considering how strong Vettel and Red Bull have been since 2010. Button did win at Japan, but with Vettel finishing third, he confirmed himself as the world champion for the 2011 season, and now he can race without any pressure in the remaining four races of the season, and just enjoy himself. He started the race on pole position, but pit stop strategy ensured that Button and Alonso finished ahead of him in the race.

Now Red Bull can concentrate on winning the Constructor’s Championship for 2011, and they can party hard into the night for now. But all teams will move to Korea in the next few days for the Korean Grand Prix the coming weekend, so there is little time to enjoy. But for now, let us the tenth but youngest back-to-back Formula 1 World Champion – Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Well done mate! Cheers!
